Great Women Artists

One of our favorite moments is enjoying the time in the car or on a walk, feeling the company of a good conversation.

Today, the TH Artsy curatorial team brings a different content - but maybe even more inspiring, than a visit:
three episodes and three great female artists, in the The Great Women Artists Podcast, with Katy Hessel - who share their journey and creative process.

01 | Marina Abramovi?

In the podcast episode, Marina shares intimate stories from her childhood in Yugoslavia, the influence of her grandmother and parents in her childhood, and the creation of art as a spiritual practice.

She talks about how silence can also be an act of love, the role of discipline in the creative process, and the impact of the performance The Artist is Present, which redefined the concept of time and presence.

02 | Sheila Hicks

In the podcast episode, Sheila Hicks reflects on how textile can be as powerful as sculpture or painting ? and how the patterns and colors of her daily life inspire her work.

She shares her experience alongside masters such as Josef and Anni Albers, as well as trips to Latin America and the Middle East that influenced her gestures and materials.

03 | Adriana Varejão

In an inspiring conversation, the Brazilian Adriana Varejão talks about the formation of her artistic identity - from the discovery of azulejos as a plastic language, to how historical themes transform into body, flesh, and fissure.

Her work passes through Portuguese azulejaria, Baroque references, the body and colonial heritage ? creating layers that reveal and hide, and awaken discomfort in beauty.

She shares backstage of the Center of Contemporary Art Reference that she created in Rio, and reflects on how to build a language that is, at the same time, universal and deeply Brazilian.
