INTROSPECTION: LOOKING IN

A thread that weaves stories of nature into a new scene...

In one of our latest initiatives, from throw pillows to furniture, we joined Donatelli Tecidos, which recently launched its Arrebol collection, inspired by Japan, to pay homage to the serenity and simplicity we find in the Karesansui gardens, also known as Zen gardens.

These gardens, created in Japan during the Muromachi period, are known for their silent beauty and the way they integrate nature, emptiness, and peace.

Unlike traditional gardens, these Karesansui are made up basically of stones, sand, and gravel ? simple elements that, when arranged intentionally, create a space for meditation and introspection.

Arrebol is a collection developed from the search for understanding of the Ma, a mode of manifestation proper to Japanese culture, together with the reading of the book ?Em louvor da sombra? by Junichiro Tanizaki.

Drawn with nanquim and jacquard, it suggests a time dedicated to looking to absorb the landscapes built in thread and warp: arrebol, horizon, landscape, walker, crevice and penumbra propose an imaginative journey that invites the observer to move between planes that irradiate, ?as the sky at sunset, a fragile golden luminescence in the penumbra around? (Tanizaki).

Ma refers to an interval, a possibility of being, a void in potential; it is an abstract idea not susceptible of conceptualization - less so according to Western thoughts - but that can be understood when its manifestation leaves traces in the material field.

The idea is that each piece be an invitation to calm and silence, resonating with the philosophy of the Karesansui, which value respect for nature, emptiness as a space for reflection and introspection as a path to inner peace.
