Summer Houses

While the winter comes here and we talk about our cabin, as an intention to find a refuge of introspection, the summer starts: where the summer is synonymous with pause and reconnection with nature.

A little different from what we associate with summer, the Nordic refuge are cabins - spaces essentially immersed in nature, where silence, light and natural materials create atmospheres that teach us more about what we seek in contemporary architecture: shelter and presence.

We put together a selection of special houses from Dezeen, dedicated to Nordic summer houses, that caught our attention.

01

Heatherhill Beach House, Dinamarca - by Norm Architects

Inspired in attics, this house has brick floor, pine panel walls, a fireplace with natural dolomite wicker, marble island and built-in bathtub with view makes the house a contemporary manifesto of materiality.

02

Dinesen Country Home, Dinamarca - by Mentze Ottenstein

Renovated 15 years after its first renovation, the country house of the 19th century is now a guesthouse. With a soft color palette (forest green in the kitchen, light yellow in the rooms) and the reinterpretation of the furniture that brings warmth and a new look at tradition.

03

Vipp Cold Hawaii, Dinamarca - by Hahn Lavsen

Located in the dunes of Thy National Park, the house has two large chimneys that divide the space between the three house wings. The aluminum-anodized kitchen is the focal point of the eastern wing, where everything seems to be in harmony with the dune tones.

04

Saltviga House, Norway - by Kolman Boye Architects

Made with wood scraps of Douglas (from Dinesen), the house in Lillesand is an exercise in reuse and poetry. The high ceilings, concrete floor and generous windows create the feeling of space and contemplation.
