Art & Coffee

Few things are as harmonious as enjoying a good coffee while admiring a work of art.

To elevate the cultural scene in an artistic context, we bring you the artists most present at TH right now, to tell you a bit about their research and work beyond aesthetics.

JULIA PEREIRA at TH ARTSY

The three names featured in our latest productions can be discovered between Studio TH and Galeria Lume, in a community where art, design, and architecture coexist, all sharing the same space.

Paulo Whitaker

If we study the various applications of fragmentation and repetition in Whitaker?s work, I think they do not necessarily relate to a modernist impulse for simplicity, certainty, or rejection of form. The ability of painting to provoke such absolutisms is present in each piece, but I believe Whitaker?s play with the uniqueness of painting and the hidden order of the process of mark-making, as well as the ever-changing context of their use, is much more interesting to take note of.

Luiz Hermano

Copper wires are interwoven among wooden forms, some painted, others left in their natural color. In detail, they may look like random connections, but when seen as a whole, an organic form emerges. The combination of wood and copper, tied together like a fishing net, evokes both the industrial and the artisanal, and the colors recall Brazil?s outback. The form appears simultaneously static and full of movement, imbued with a charge of potential energy.

Julia Pereira

In her research, Julia Pereira investigates the intangibility of time and its effects on the instinctive body and on the emotional nature of human relationships.

Her desire for paint and her intimate autobiographical memory serve as a trigger for works that inhabit the boundary between abstraction and figuration.
