Pulse in Motion
A Maison & Objet has been for more than three decades, one of the main meeting points for design and décor.
Twice a year, Paris welcomes new talents, designers, artisans and creators from different parts of the world, transforming what is being thought and produced for the home, the city becomes a place to discover materials, new processes, objects and names that expand the repertoire.
Under the theme Pulse in Motion, the latest edition brought to the center of conversation a design more human, sensory and collective.
Our selection gathers seven names that entered TH's radar in this edition.
HOUSE OF CAPRICORN
@house.of.capricorn
An ode to handmade. House of Capricorn works with home objects that value natural materials and artisanal techniques, pieces thought to reflect time.
Between ceramics, wickerwork and table objects, their work finds beauty in everything that does not seem industrialized.
DEFT STUDIOS
@deft.studios
From South Africa, DEFT Studios brings together furniture, craftsmanship and emotion.
Founded by Martin Tallie and Zani Alberts, the studio works with local production and carpentry, creating generous forms and pieces that traverse between the functional and the sculptural.
It was also one of the names highlighted by Maison&Objet among the new generation of design from South Africa in this edition.
SARAH ESPEUTE
@sarahespeute
From Marseille, Sarah Espeute: transforms the everyday of table setting into a new narrative. Her drawings are hand-stitched on linen and cotton, creating tablecloths, napkins and fabrics that look like small illustrations almost interactive for the home. A delicate work that finds in the artisanal gesture its main language.
VANESSA MITRANI
@vanessamitrani
For several years at M&O, glass is the starting point for Vanessa Mitrani. The French designer explores its possibilities almost like a sculptural material, creating pieces where transparency, color, volume and imperfection meet.
The result are objects that can occupy the house as decoration, but also as small works.
PAOLO SANTANGELO
@paolosantangelo_
Geometric shapes, bold colors and hand-made ceramics from Puglia.
Paolo Santangelo works mainly with white terracotta and creates pieces that have a strong graphic character, inspired also by the spirit of the 1970s and 1980s. Between function and sculpture, his objects have presence without losing the simplicity of the material.
EDITIONS MILANO
@editionsmilano
One of our discoveries for those who believe that contemporary design can look back. Editions Milano combines international designers with the savoir-faire of Italian artisans, working with timeless materials like marble, porcelain, glass and wood.
In this edition, the highlight is also Archive, a project that rescues historical pieces from names like Vico Magistretti and Gio Ponti and puts them back into circulation.
DI VINCENZO POUJOULA
@divincenzopoujoula
Ceramics, furniture and a nearly architectural approach to the object. The French-Italian duo Di Vincenzo Poujoula produces their pieces manually in Cannes, exploring forms and volumes that stay between design and art. It is precisely this frontier, between functional object and piece to contemplate, that makes their work so interesting for the home.
Seven names and different ways of thinking about the object, in common, a special attention to the material, to the making and to what makes a piece remain relevant beyond a season.
For us, discovering design also is about renewing the gaze and expanding the repertoire.
See you next year!
