Milano Edition #1

Starting today, in Milan, another edition of the Salone del Mobile, where one of our highlights already has a name: LOEWE TEAPOTS.

With curatorial direction by Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, the exhibition brings together 25 artists, designers and architects, invited by Loewe (@loewe), to reinterpret a millennia-old object: a teapot.

In a world where constant search for the new, Loewe chose a different path: revisiting an old symbol, intimate and universal.

The teapot ? present in so many cultures, so familiar and poetic - becomes a starting point for a new conversation about form, function and affection, by different perspectives.

The exhibition takes place at the Citterio Palace, from April 8 to April 13, and proposes a look at the artisan, time and gestures of hospitality.

Why Teapots?

More than just a utilitarian houseware, the teapot represents encounters, pauses, rituals, and more than ever, the world of design speaks to feel. It transcends its function, and carries memories and sensations.

The idea of Loewe is simple and powerful: use this object as a canvas for artistic expression. The result is a plural collection, where traditional techniques and contemporary experiments meet.

Some artists chose porcelain, others went beyond: stone, ceramic, blown glass, leather lace, copper. The diversity of materials is accompanied by forms that question proportion, scale and even what we understand as utility.

Patricia Urquiola

A designer from Spain created the teapot Ardilla (squirrel), inspired by the gesture of saving and welcoming - a fusion between affection and movement.

David Chipperfield

Architecture in a state of tea: a teapot of stone with cobalt blue finish and copper handle, retrating minimalism and presence.

Rose Wylie

A British artist took the Royal Albert universe to a new place: with exaggerated lid and playful forms, her teapot plays with visual memories.

From Japan, a teapot of ceramic with leather lace handle - where nature inspires form and texture.
