Real Presence

One of the most abundant materials on our planet, by its accessibility, by the ancestral intelligence of use and by the coherence with the agenda of the world contemporary, the clay returns to the center of conversations between architecture, design and art.

Loading the floor from where it came is also loading memory, presence and origin. The earth speaks of territory and of time. It speaks of a making that respects the natural rhythm of hands and of the environment.

It is in this place that the Olar's work is built.

In Ceará, the Olar develops pieces from clay as one who listens to the territory before intervening. The process is born from direct contact with the matter, from the observation of the landscapes, the textures of the floor and the local practices in the communities of Rio Choró. Each piece carries marks of time, touch and journey.

Clay appears as matter and symbol. As silent resistance. As ethical choice and tactile presence, real inside the house.

Like in the text that inspired us, the earth here does not determine destinies, but orient paths. It shelters transformations, witnesses stories and remains as an active agent of what we choose to build today. The pieces in clay exist in communion with the space, with the use and with who inhabits.

In our curatorial selection, they come as an extension of this thought: design that is born from the floor, respects the origin and transforms the house into a natural territory.
