The Travel Radar
From landscapes that seem from another planet to new ways to recharge through nature, some new destinations have entered our radar.
Always with a curious and attentive gaze, three new places to discover now, or, save for the next trip.
SAMKANI CAMP
SALAR DE UYUNI
Remote, silent and almost of another world, the Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia, is the largest salt flat in the world, a vast white expanse that extends for thousands of kilometers.
Throughout the year, the landscape changes completely in atmosphere: in the dry season, the ground reveals its geometric designs of salt; when the rains arrive, a thin layer of water transforms the salt flat into a gigantic mirror, reflecting the sky and creating the sensation of being between two vastnesses. At night, far from the city lights, the horizon opens up to one of the most special scenarios for observing the stars.
The project is part of A&K Sanctuary, Abercrombie & Kent's collection dedicated to extraordinary accommodation experiences. To reach the Salar de Uyuni, the brand partners with mobile camping in remote regions and creates five Airstream suites directly on the salt flat.
Clad in blue marble and chrome details, the accommodations were designed to integrate with the landscape and create an experience of total isolation. No neighbors, no noise, no excess: just the salt flat, the sky, and the rare feeling of being in a place that seems to exist outside of time.
Definitely, a destination to enter the radar.
SIGNATURE BATHHOUSE REYKJADALUR
ISLÂNDIA
Reykjaböð is a new geothermal destination installed in the midst of the volcanic landscape of Reykjadalur. Based on the region's own thermal waters, the project combines architecture, bathing and wellness in an experience deeply connected to Icelandic nature.
The landscape is an essential part of the experience: a valley surrounded by mountains, moss fields, vapor and volcanic formations, where the architecture emerges discreetly, almost as a continuation of the surroundings. The proposal is to experience the geothermal power of Iceland through its own elements.
No Signature Bathhouse, the experience goes beyond the thermal pool and proposes a true wellness circuit, designed to explore the contrasts of Icelandic nature. Two cold immersion pools, a sauna, a Kneipp circuit that alternates between 36°C and 14°C waters, a floating pool and even a snow room.
Outside, the mineral pool remains as protagonist, surrounded by the Reykjadalur valley and open to the Icelandic sky.
PIVOINE
LES BATEAUX BELMOND, PROVENCE
France seen at a more relaxed pace while crossing Provence aboard a barge, the traditional French vessels that traverse rivers and canals and that, today, have gained new interpretations and more special accommodations.
Among them is the Pivoine, from Les Bateaux Belmond: an intimate boat for only eight guests, with four cabins, that navigates through the landscapes of Provence and Camargue. The idea is to pass through small cities, local markets and landscapes of southern France while life happens in another rhythm aboard.
The time can be filled in the simplest way: a dive in the heated pool, some pages of a book on the deck, a drink in the afternoon or a glass of wine while the landscape passes.
At the table, the rhythm continues without haste, with fine dining experiences prepared aboard and ingredients that translate the flavors of the region, signed by Belmond.
For those seeking an even more particular experience, the Pivoine can be reserved entirely for a group, with personalized itineraries.
And now, the hardest part: choosing where to go first.
